It's been revealed that Scandinavian furniture company Ikea has conducted research into the New Zealand market.
Architecture, retail design and property consulting firm RCG has been working with the company on a market research project.
However, managing director John Long said he could not say what Ikea's plans were.
UGH JUST TELL US IF WE'RE GETTING AN IKEA OR NOT ASAP PLZ.
A spokesperson for the chain did not offer further detail. "Ikea is always exploring opportunities to expand and be more accessible to more people, however we do not currently have confirmed plans to open a store or sell online in New Zealand."
We are positive about this, though, because...why would you look into a market you weren't considering, right!?
Apparently a reason Ikea hasn't been here in the past is because the popularity would cause traffic chaos! Luckily for us, this means that they are considering making a shift to smaller stores so NZ could be seeing one of these types of stores (aka ones that you don't get lost in, lol!)
