Seems like diamonds might not exactly be a girl's best friend anymore!
Experts has revealed lately they've seen people have begun to take a more non-traditional approach when it comes to choosing their engagement rings. Instead of diamonds we're looking more at sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and the like for the rock instead.
The reason for the change apparently falls down to the fact that now we've got different priorities as to where we're putting out money says Arusha Couttigane, Senior Analyst at Kantar Retail:
A generation of marital-age people are now prioritizing other things such as weddings, housing, and the cost of having children, rather than splashing out on a really expensive ring
There is still a lot of demand for solitaire rings, but there has been growth in non traditionals designs, which use a range of cheaper colored stones too.
So if you're looking at rings for a special someone atm, maybe instead of looking at the diamonds you could look at different rocks like the ones below:
