Jamie McDell's first single 'You'll Never Take That Away' was written about her happiness about all the things that she has in her life, and about not caring about what other people say or think about it.
The Aucklander is new to the music scene but has already gained huge popularity on YouTube with her pop mash up cover already receiving over 6,000 views.
What is your single about?
I wrote ‘You’ll Never Take That Away’ about appreciating the things I have in my life and the things I love to do. It’s human nature to judge others and that can really get to some people, I’m guess I’m saying in this song that I chose not to care and be happy with my life no matter who tries to bring me down and hopefully the single can encourage that attitude. Besides life is so much more fun when you’re not worrying about what people think.
Where did you record this single, and who helped you out?
I recorded the single with the awesome musicians at York St Studio
Have you got a video out, if so what is the theme/story behind the video?
The video is basically introducing me. It’s showing my interests which is anything to do with the beach and the ocean, those are the things that make me happy. It’s very light and summery, showing what I get up to in the summertime.
Who’s in your band?
I’m a solo artist but I had the guys from York St Studio play with me on my demos and first single.
Have you got an album coming out soon?
Looking to release an album later on this year.
