Lewis Capaldi confirms he’s ‘trying for a musical baby’ with Niall Horan

"We're trying for a baby..."

It’s no secret Lewis Capaldi has found a bromance with his close pal Niall Horan, and fans of both singers have been patiently waiting for a collab between the two, but will it ever happen?

Clint, Meg, and Dan from Edge Breakfast got the inside scoop from Lewis himself about when we can expect from his new album ‘ 'Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent'. And let me tell you, Lewis did not disappoint with his response.

He joked that he and his bestie Niall Horan are "trying for a [musical] baby," and honestly, we can't stop laughing.

But wait, it gets better. When asked about who is to blame for the album not being in the works, Lewis quickly threw Niall under the bus. Apparently, Niall “has problems getting excited, let’s just put it that way.”

When asked who is to blame for an album not being in the works, Lewis didn’t hesitate to throw his buddy under the bus.

“It’s just one of these things, like, we’ll just keep trying. We’ve got to find each other’s likes and dislikes, what pushes each other’s buttons?”

Lewis added that it takes a lot more than just sitting down and banging a hit tune out. It takes knowing what sounds they both like and want to work on together.

“It’s a very important thing, we’re just gelling baby, that’s all it is.”

Speaking of hit songs, Lewis's upcoming album is already making waves, and we haven't even heard the whole thing yet!

Meg pointed out that we've already received two sad songs, and honestly, you need to see how Meg ugly cried to ‘Wish You The Best.’

But don't worry, Lewis promises that there will be some upbeat tunes as well.

“There’s a song called ‘Heavenly Kind of State of Mind’ which is very upbeat, It’s a very jaunty little tune,” Lewis explained.

“I’m spanning the genres on this one.”

Lewis also explained that another one of his songs on the album sounds similar to another musical legend - Prince!

Lewis hesitates before he goes on to say how the tunes are alike, especially after Ed Sheeran has just appeared in court for a copyright infringement dispute over his song ‘Shape of You’ sounding similar to Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’.

However, Lewis goes on to say: “It sounds a bit like a Prince song. It sounds like Prince if he was really bad,” the singer said poking fun at his music.

"We didn't copy it, so if anyone's trying to sue me... Just back off!"

Phew, crisis averted.

Well, with the way Lewis has explained his new album to us, we’re bloody excited to give the full thing a listen. And as for that Niall Horan collab, we’ll patiently keep waiting for that one!
