The actor who played Lucious Malfoy in Harry Potter didn't originally audition for that part

It's hard to imagine anyone else playing the part of Lucious Malfoy. Jason Isaacs absolutely nailed the role.

In fact, Isaacs wasn't even aiming to play Lucius — he wanted to play Gilderoy Lockhart!

Isaacs told Digital Spy that he was pretty pissed with casting when they asked him to read for Lucius. "I was about to go play Captain Hook and didn't want to do two children's villains."

But, thankfully, Isaacs' family made a joint effort to convince him to do it.

"Over the weekend, everybody I knew called me — nieces, nephews, godchildren and then the parents," he told Digital Spy. "They all tried to persuade me to take the job — not because they cared about me but because they wanted to visit the set! So I took the job, and thank god I did!"
