Here’s why you should never use the peace sign in a selfie

If you're one of those people who automatically pulls out the peace sign when they're taking a selfie, well... don't. According to Vocativ, these snaps are being used for identity theft.

Apparently by exposing your fingers, internet scammers can access your fingerprints, kinda like how you can unlock your phone using your prints.

Researchers at Japan's National Institute of Informatics (NII) found that fingerprints from photos taken 30 cm from the subject using a digital camera can easily be copied.

Just by casually making a peace sign in front of a camera, fingerprints can become widely available. Fingerprint data can be recreated if fingerprints are in focus with strong lighting in a picture.

Erm, well that sounds pretty damn scary.
