New Zealand's electro-pop princess is back with a brand new single, My Calculator. The track is the first single from her next album, Love Demolition, which is out at the end of April. The song, which was recorded in Sweden, is all about someone toying with your head.
What is your single about?
The idea behind
'My Calculator' is someone toying around with your head. It's sung in quite a
sarcastic tone toward the person it’s about. The numbers in the chorus, 1 6 2
3, represent a phone number that isn't yours which you've spotted on their
screen. Funnily enough 1623 is actually also the year the calculator was
invented. The song is full of double entendres!
Where did you
record this single, and who helped you out?
I recorded 'My
Calculator' in Stockholm, Sweden. It was the most amazing studio - an old fire
station full of robots! I wrote it with Henrik Jonback who has worked with some
great artists like Miike Snow, Britney Spears, Madonna and Kelis.
Who’s in your
I have the most
killingest band. J.C on the kit, Clax on the Guitar and Th'Howler on synths.
Have you got
any tours coming up?
There will be more
live dates coming up around the album release.
Have you got an
album coming out soon?
I do - it's called
‘Love Demolition’ and it's N.Z release date is April 30th!
