A representative for Amy Winehouse's family has clarified reports suggesting the singer's father is against the idea of a biopic, insisting they would "entertain" projects which "tell the truth" about the tragic star.
The late singer's filmmaker boyfriend Reg Traviss recently revealed he had been approached to direct a movie about Winehouse, but he turned the offer down.
Mitch Winehouse also rejected the idea of allowing the Rehab hitmaker's songs to be used for the potential film, declaring, "It would hardly be a biopic without the music and we'd never allow the songs to be released."
However, that doesn't mean the Winehouse family will never allow the singer's life story to be told on the big screen.
The spokesperson tells EW.com, "Mitch and the family would entertain ideas perhaps for a film but only one they were sure would tell the truth."
Meanwhile, the Winehouse patriarch has dismissed rumours Lady Gaga is being courted to portray the late star.
In a Twitter.com post on Monday (12Dec11), he wrote, "I never said Lady Gaga will play Amy in film."
The Grammy winner died in July (11), aged 27.
