NICKI MINAJ has reached out to fans to
explain why she refused to take the stage at a hip-hop festival in New Jersey
on Sunday (03Jun12), revealing it was her label boss LIL WAYNE's decision to
axe the gig and she didn't want to "go against" his word.
The rapper was due to headline Hot 97's Summer Jam at the MetLife
Stadium at the weekend and had teased fans via Twitter.com earlier in the day
about her big plans for the performance.
She tweeted, "History will be made @ Hot97 Summer Jam tonight. I
really hope you're there to witness it."
But Minaj pulled out of the appearance shortly before she was scheduled
to perform after Hot 97 radio presenter Peter Rosenberg slated her hit song
Starships on stage, telling the crowd, "I know there are some chicks here
waiting to sing Starships later, I'm not talking to y'all right now, f**k that
bulls**t. Bulls**t! I'm here to talk about real hip-hop s**t."
The comments infuriated Young Money Entertainment boss Lil Wayne and he
took to Twitter to announce, "Young Money ain't (sic) doing summer
jam."
Minaj admits she was stunned by the bold move, but she stands by her
mentor because they will not tolerate rude behaviour.
In a series of tweets, she wrote, "Wow. U n**gaz (sic) just f**ked
up history. But the President has spoken. (Summer Jam) Had a HELL of a f**king
lineup. But we won't b (sic) disrespected... I go above and beyond for my fans.
But won't ever go against wayne's
word. What he says, goes."
