Who wrote Naomi Watts a letter to say how great she is? Thu-20-Dec-12 17:07 Share this By Megan Slovak REESE WITHERSPOON is championing NAOMI WATTS as a serious Oscars contender as Hollywood's awards season starts to heat up. The Legally Blonde star, who won an Academy Award for her role in Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line, has written an open letter to Watts, praising her performance in tsunami movie The Impossible. Witherspoon reveals she was deeply moved by the film and hopes the actress ends up holding all of Hollywood's "beautiful statues" by the end of awards season in the spring. She writes, "Hi Naomi, I know we don't know each other well. I hope it's ok that I am reaching out to you, because I simply could not contain my enthusiasm about your performance in The Impossible... I was blown away by the film... By far, one of the best films I have ever seen in my life. I could not speak for 24 hours after seeing the film. It was more than a movie. It was a mediation on life (sic) and family and humanity. It was fortifying. But the life-breath of the film is you." Witherspoon goes on to compare Watts to Oscar-winning actresses Meryl Streep and Sally Field and adds, "If I have anything to do with it (and I will literally tap dance on Sunset Boulevard for you!), you will be holding every beautiful statue that exists by the end of February... Congratulations. And thank you (for) sharing your heart and soul so openly." Watts has already been nominated for a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award for her performance in The Impossible. The highly-anticipated Oscar nominations will be announced in January (13).
