South Korean pop sensation PSY and rap superstar Jay-Z have been shortlisted for Time magazine's 2012 Person of the Year.

Also among the 38 contenders being considered for the honour are Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James, U.S. President Barack Obama and his former White House rival, Republican Mitt Romney.

The winner will be chosen by Time editors and revealed on 14 December.
