For their 17th annual Hollywood issue cover, Vanity Fair got together the 'most exciting actors and actresses of the moment', flashed them up and got them to pose glamorously holding up a bar. "We wanted to evoke the glamour of 1930s Shanghai, an era of smoky, alluring elegance," says fashion and style director Jessica Diehl. "We had the gentlemen looking dashing in black tie, whilst the ladies were radiant in spring’s gowns—from Gucci to Yves Saint Laurent—and glittering with diamonds from Chanel and other arbiters of glamour." The cover was shot in Los Angeles and New York and stitched together in Photoshop. 15 stars feature: Oscar co-hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco, Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone), Noomi Rapace (lead in the Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Anthony Mackie (The Adjustment Bureau), Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy), Mila Kunis (Black Swan), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception), Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, Spiderman reboot), Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), and Robert Duvall (Crazy Heart).
