Actress CYNTHIA NIXON has shaved off her famous red hair and gone bald for her new Broadway play.
The former Sex and the City star stunned viewers of U.S. morning show Live! With Kelly on Tuesday (24Jan12) when she showed off the hairless new look she has adopted for Wit, in which she portrays a poetry professor diagnosed with terminal cancer.
But Nixon admits the simple look requires more grooming than she had bargained for.
She told host Kelly Ripa and guest presenter Mary J. Blige, "I thought it was kind of gonna be no muss-no fuss, but I have to shave it every day!
"It's got kind of a five o'clock shadow, and you don't want to go on (stage) with that. I was always kind of curious to see what it would be like. I like it (but) I don't think I'm gonna keep it forever."
Cynthia herself battled breast cancer in 2006.
