Robin Williams has died.

The beloved Mrs. Doubtfire actor passed away at the age of 63 on Monday August 11.

In a statement issued to Entertainment Weekly by the Oscar-winner’s publicist, it was revealed the star suffered from intense mental anguish in recent weeks.

“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late,” the press release read.

“This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

According to EW, the publicist did not confirm whether Robin committed suicide.

However, an official press bulletin issued to the public by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division in California fuels reports Robin may have taken his own life.

“Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications,” the coroner’s statement read. “At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made.”

Robin was found lifeless at his home in Tiburon, California by authorities after a male adult called emergency services claiming the actor was unconscious and not breathing.

A full investigation into the cause of his death is currently underway and a forensic examination is scheduled for August 12. Toxicology testing will take place at a later date after the autopsy is complete.

Robin leaves behind his third wife Susan Schneider, a graphic designer he married in 2011, and three adult children, whom he shares with ex-wives Valerie Velardi and Marsha Garces.
