RIHANNA has apologised to fans in Boston, Massachusetts after she was forced to axe the second date of her new world tour due to a bout of laryngitis.
The Umbrella hitmaker kicked off the Diamonds World Tour in Buffalo, New York on Friday, but she had to scrap her Sunday night show at the TD Garden in Boston after falling sick.
A statement posted on the venue's website reads, "The Rihanna Diamonds World Tour previously scheduled for this evening in Boston has been postponed... Unfortunately, following her sold out concert on Friday Rihanna has contracted laryngitis and per doctor's instruction is unable to perform this evening. Boston fans are instructed to retain their tickets pending rescheduling show date information."
Rihanna also reached out to her Twitter.com fans to thank them for their support, writing, "BOSTON this is the hardest thing for me to deal with! I feel like we've been waiting on this day forever, and I'm hurt that I let you down... I hate disappointing people that never ever let me down!! I'm so embarrassed about this! Thank you for your prayers and well wishes!"
Rihanna is due back on stage in Baltimore, Maryland on Tuesday.
