Legally blind Black Eye Peas star APL.DE.AP has undergone corrective surgery to restore his eyesight.
The I Gotta Feeling rapper, real name Allan Pineda Lindo, Jr., is nearsighted and he also struggles with nystagmus, a condition which causes his eyeballs to move involuntarily.
The disability has plagued the 37 year old's personal and professional life since birth, and now the superstar has hired a team of doctors to help fix the problem.
Los Angeles medic Brian Boxer Wachler implanted an artificial lens into each of Lindo's eyes and, walking out of the operating room to greet his mother Cristina, he exclaimed, "It wasn't as scary as I thought... It was easy!"
The musician has since had a few weeks to recover and Lindo admits he feels like a whole new man.
Beaming with joy during a follow-up interview with U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America on Thursday (26Jul12), he said, "I can see almost 100 feet (30 metres) away and before I couldn't. The doctor said it's only gonna get better because I'm still getting used to the lenses in my eye, so it's definitely a good success."
