No Doubt has ended a three-year legal battle over the use of the band's likeness in a video game.
In 2009, the Don't Speak hitmakers accused Activision Publishing Inc. bosses of misleading them about their inclusion in video game Band Hero, claiming they were never told in negotiations that players could 'unlock' avatars of each No Doubt member.
They alleged that the group appeared like a "virtual karaoke circus act" because their characters could play music by other artists in the game.
The band, fronted by Gwen Stefani, received the green light to take the suit to trial in May after a judge refused Activision's lawyers' requests to have charges of fraud, breach of contract and violation of publicity rights dismissed, but the two parties settled out of court on Monday (01Oct12), weeks before the case was to be heard in court.
Details of the settlement have not been released.
