Nicole Richie is set to put her fashion expertise to the test by joining Jessica Simpson as a judge on Elle Macpherson's stylish new reality TV show, according to a U.S. report.

The socialite runs her own fashion lines, Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960, and she will now help budding designers as they compete to win a multi-million dollar contract on new programme Fashion Star, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.

Simpson has already been announced as a judge, while Macpherson will host the show, which will offer 12 contestants the chance to launch a line in an American retail store.
