Nelson Mandela's grandchildren have landed their own reality TV series.

Three of the former South African leader's grown-up granddaughters, who were raised in America, will star in the 2012 show, which is set in South Africa.

Their famous grandfather is not expected to make an appearance.

A release about the show suggests it's about "three women breaking away from the Mandela legacy".

Swati Mandela, who will be one of the three stars, says, "The show will be about our lives as young, black women... We're definitely not the African Kardashians."
