What is your single about?
The lyrics to ‘Long Way To Go’ are mostly about all the time we’ve spent on the road touring.
Where did you record this single, and who helped you out?
I recorded this single and the EP ‘Champagne In Seashells’ at Roundhead Studios last April with Eliza Jane and my very good friend Jordan (as well as a little help from Connan Mockasin who sings BV’s in one song).
Have you got a video out, if so what is the theme/story behind the video?
The video for Long Way To Go has just come out and is basically a performance based vid with EJ and myself playing different instruments and hanging out in the studio.
Recorded in April at Roundhead studios in Auckland New Zealand on the same analogue equipment that captured I'll Be Lightning, Champagne in Seashells is bigger and bolder, revealing new lyrical complexities and pointing in daring new musical directions. It also marks the debut studio collaboration between Liam and live cohort Eliza-Jane. The self produced EP was mixed by legendary sonic wiz Tchad Blake (Tom Waits,
Gomez, Pearl Jam).
Lead single Long Way To Go encapsulates the magical dynamic of Liam and E-J's chaotic live show whilst tackling the anxieties of air travel, life on the road and homesickness. Ironically this EP will take Liam and
EJ back on the road, playing these new songs on their world tour but not before Liam heads back into the studio to record songs for an upcoming untitled project with fellow New Zealand artists Lawrence Arabia and Connan Mockasin. The guys will be writing and recording for a month and then head out on tour for what will be a very special four shows around the country.
