Amber D is one of M.A.C’s leading Make-up Artists, fresh from Milan Fashion Week, where she busied herself doing the make-up for shows, including Vivienne Westwood!
You could call hers the dream job for a girly-girl, getting to play with make-up all day, the new colours and ranges from M.A.C, and enhancing everyone’s natural beauty.
I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon with Amber, and get my make-up done by an internationally renowned artist.
She showed me some tips and tricks direct from the catwalk…
The one thing that surprised me the most was how long Amber spent on my skin. She moisturised, put eye cream on my bags, used a primer before applying foundation. Then after the foundation, she spent time using a contour and highlight to accentuate parts of my face, something she assured me she used on the models in Milan.

Amber says, it’s important on the catwalk with all the lights, but it’s also something we can do everyday.
Many girls know how to contour under the cheekbone, but Amber also uses the same contour on your forehead, in your temples to shape your face.
Amber also uses a lighter shimmer powder on the cheek, a little on the bridge of the nose and just above the lip, again to shape your face and pop your lips.
Groundbreaking stuff, really! There is so much you can do with make-up besides the obvious, and the best way to learn, is to learn from the masters of the trade!
