So my interview with Katy Perry was scheduled for 2.30pm at The Hyatt. A very, very flash hotel. We arrived early at 2pm and saw Dai Henwood and his crew and Paul Henry waiting too. The interviews were running late so we would be waiting awhile. Everyone was eating and drinking, but I sensibly stuck to diet coke because I knew a wine would ruin me! I was nervous enough as it was. My hands were shaking! It had nothing to do with me meeting Katy Perry. It was because I had to interview her by myself – without Mike or Dom there. I’m used to having them. They make me feel comfortable! I was out of my comfort zone but had to hold it together. Stacey, the winner I took with me, was excited to meet Dai and Paul and got a photo. She was happy to wait with me and offered to video the interview for The Edge website.
I was told our interview would be at 4.30pm!! So we waited for 2 and a half hours in the lobby of the hotel. The longer we waited, the more nervous I got! And when I get nervous, I get all giggly.
I was finally called up to Katy’s room. The door opened and there were people scurrying everywhere. Camera men, assistants, record company reps… The room was cleared for us and I sat down. There were candy canes and lollipops on the table and balloons everywhere. The couch was pink. It was like a mini candyland. Katy stepped into the room wearing a short, tight green dress. It was covered in plastic green sequins of sort. Her shoes lit up with coloured lights. She was wearing a black, bob wig. She is very slim and very cute. I knew she had been doing interviews all day and I was her second to last, so she was probably over it, but she was very friendly and pleasant. It didn’t stop my nerves though! And I giggled my way through the interview. I had a few questions I really wanted to ask but didn’t have the guts and I was kicking myself afterwards. Would she take Russell’s last name when she married him? Did she want to be a billionaire so fricken bad? If Dom was there I would have had the courage.
Katy happily signed a couple of cds for us (one of which I am giving away on Radiochick this week. CLICK HERE TO WIN IT) and posed for this photo.
