LUPE FIASCO was escorted off the stage at a gig held
in honour of BARACK OBAMA's inauguration on Sunday after launching into an
angry rant about the U.S. President.
The hip-hop
star was booked to headline the Start Up Rock On concert in Washington, D.C.
to mark Obama's re-election, but he used his set to voice his frustration with
the current administration.
Fans at The
Hamilton venue were stunned as Fiasco performed an anti-Obama song for 30
minutes, and reportedly refused to move on to another track.
Josh Rogin, a
reporter for news website The Cable, took to Twitter.com to describe the
incident, writing, "Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the
Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set."
Rogin added, "Lupe played one anti-war song for 30
min and said he didn't vote for Obama and eventually was told to move on to the
next song. Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards
came on stage and told him to go."
Matt Dornic,
senior director of public relations for CNN, also tweeted, "Things going
terribly wrong at Lupe Fiasco performance during SURO. Kicked off stage, bashing
Obama."
It's not the first time Fiasco
has openly criticised the president - he hit headlines in 2011 after taking aim
at Obama's foreign policy stance and branded him a terrorist.
