Lorde met her inspiration behind her hit song ‘Royals’.

She was looking through a 1976 issue of National Geographic when she saw a photo of George Brett, a player for the Kansas City Royals, signing baseballs. The word ‘Royals’ on his shirt stood out to her. She says, “I was like, I really like that word, because I’m a big word fetishist. I’ll pick a word and I’ll pin an idea to that”. She then went on to write her number 1 song ‘Royals’.

And now, she has finally met the man in the photo! They  bumped into each other in Las Vegas and got a photo together.
