RUSSELL BRAND has filed for divorce from KATY PERRY.
In documents filed in Los Angeles on Friday (30Dec11), the British funnyman and actor cites "irreconcilable differences" for the split.
The news comes following weeks of speculation about the state of the couple's marriage, which went into overdrive a week ago when it became clear Brand and I Kissed a Girl singer Perry would not be spending Christmas (11) together.
Instead, both were pictured without their wedding rings - Perry on vacation in Hawaii and Brand in London.
In a statement announcing the sad news, Brand writes, "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."
The pair wed in India in October, 2010.
