KATHERINE JACKSON has broken her silence
following a five-day drama about her whereabouts and wellbeing, insisting she
is "fine" after a "short vacation".
The 82-year-old Jackson family matriarch was reported missing by her
nephew Trent on Saturday (21Jul12), six days after she left the Calabasas,
California home she shares with teenagers Paris and Prince and their younger
brother Blanket and headed to Arizona with her eldest daughter Rebbie.
Trent Jackson told the police the children had been refused contact with
their grandmother and were worried about her.
Jermaine Jackson took to Twitter.com later on Saturday to assure fans,
friends and followers that his mother was "fine" and resting at
Rebbie's home under doctor's orders.
Paris and Katherine's lawyer Sandra Ribera contested his remarks on
Twitter and in statements to media outlets, prompting Arizona police officials to track the matriarch
down for an interview.
Even that didn't end the drama as Paris
continued to post tweets on Monday (23Jul12) and Tuesday (24Jul12) revealing
she still hadn't spoken to her grandmother.
There was a showdown at the Calabasas compound as Jermaine and siblings
Randy and Janet attempted to reason with the kids and persuade them to leave
the home and return to Arizona with them, and on Wednesday (25Jul12), the kids'
36-year-old cousin TJ was granted temporary guardianship in light of his
grandmother's absence.
But Katherine returned home on Wednesday afternoon and told ABC News,
"There are rumours going around about me that I have been kidnapped. I am
here today to let everybody know that I am good and fine. My children would
never do anything to me like that."
Asked why she left her grandchildren for 10 days, the 82 year old
explained she simply needed "a short vacation".
And as for her decision not to speak to her late son Michael's kids, she
added, "One reason I didn't call is I just gave up my phone and I didn't
want to have any phone calls."
But she seemed distressed about all the drama that occurred while she
was away, stating, "I am devastated that while I've been away, my
grandchildren have been taken away from me."
Paris, Prince and Blanket
have reportedly been taken to a safe house following Monday's visit from the
uncles and aunt, which ended with an altercation following a stand-off on the
grounds.
Police were called following a report of a physical assault but no
arrests were made or citations handed out.
