Kanye West is not coming to the Big Day Out.
The cancellation of the high-profile rapper has been confirmed by 3 News after speaking to Big Day Out organisers.
Dubstep/drum and bass act Nero are now on the bill, as is Noel Gallagher’s band High Flying Birds.
New Zealand Big Day Out promoter Campbell Smith says the decision to remove West from the lineup was made to ensure the festival will remain in New Zealand.
He also revealed changes will be made to the format in future - there will only be one main stage instead of the two currently used and some of the smaller specialist stages will also be axed.
The decisions have been made in an attempt to lower the cost of putting on the Auckland leg of the tour.
West is the second major act to be removed from the original lineup after rap group Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All had their invitation revoked due to concerns about their lyrics.
West has previously performed in New Zealand in 2006 and 2008.
