Top genealogists representing family tree website Ancestry.com have uncovered a fascinating new celebrity gene pool - Justin Bieber is related to fellow Canadians Ryan Gosling, Celine Dion and Avril Lavigne.

The researchers traced pop superstar Bieber's roots back 400 years to the early Quebec settlers, and they made a startling discovery.

According to their findings, the Baby hitmaker and The Notebook hunk Gosling are 11th cousins once removed through their ancestors Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Bire, while Bieber and Lavigne are 12th cousins through the same couple.

The teen and Dion are 10th cousins three times removed, linked through Jacques Vezina and his wife Marie Boisdon, French emigrants who died in Quebec, Canada in 1687.
