Actor Peter Dinklage has put New Zealand
on the map at yesterday's Golden Globes Awards ceremony, maybe for the wrong
reasons…
Peter, who is a dwarf, won the award for
best Best Supporting Actor, for the Games of Thrones dedicated his win to
Martin Henderson - and encouraged people to google him.
Now when we say Martin Henderson we aren’t
talking NZ actor, who was in Britneys Toxic vid, we’re talking 37-year-old
British dwarf, who is facing life in a wheelchair after being picked up and
thrown to the ground.
Martin Henderson – the dwarf, has blamed England's rugby
team for giving his attacker the idea. Because we all remember when they came
to NZ and were told off for participating in a dwarf tossing comp in Queenstown.
In his speech, Peter Dinklage thanked all
the usual recipients, his wife, mother and newborn daughter. His final tribute
was for: "a gentleman in England
I'm thinking about, Martin Henderson."
Then instead of explaining, he just told
the audience to "google him".
Martin Henderson - the dwarf, was stoked to be mentioned.
"I was totally shocked. It is really
odd to think my name was heard by all these actors.... It is nice to know my message is
getting out to people that it is not acceptable to throw dwarves around."
