Money is tight, but so are our wardrobes. No need to panic though, afew tips and tricks can make our wardrobes fresh and new again.
Living on a budget can be frustrating, especially when it comes to our wardrobe. But it doesn't have to. Even on a budget there are some simple tips and tricks we can use to spruce up our wardrobes and make us feel better about the clothes in our closets.
How can we spruce up our wardrobe without breaking the bank?
One great way to add style to your image is to accessorise. A suit can take on a whole new look with a simple scarf added to the mix. Rings, belts, purses and shoes can change the entire way an outfit looks, with minimal cost. This can revitalise the clothes we already own.
Another option if we have friends of our own size and shape is to do a wardrobe swap. Gather all your items that you don’t wear but are in good condition and see if a friend has an item that you might like to swap for. It’s a great way to recycle quality used clothing.
Tight budget? Check out the local second hand stores. Second hand clothes can have a lot of life still left in them and we can take advantage of these gently used clothes to add to our current wardrobe without the pocket book crunch. Save Marts and Hospice shops are a great start. And of course you might want to take consider looking through unwanted items on TradeMe.
Sales are our new best friends. Purchasing things on sale or closeout specials or even from outlet stores can add some of the season’s greats to our wardrobes, without the regular price tag. Stuff bought on sale can save up to 50% on average of the cost it would've been just a few weeks earlier, so keep your eye open for sales and ask to be put on a notification list at your favourite store.
Let the seamstress in us loose. A little ribbon here, a little added fabric there and a piece that had seen better days can be brought back to life and made into a one of the kind creation that we will love all over again. Speaking of tailoring, simply taking in some of the clothes we have lost weight and no longer fit or vice versa can add life back into a wardrobe of ill-fitting clothes.
Take to the dyes. There are a lot of consumer friendly dyes on the market that can bring our wardrobes to life. A change of colour can make a big difference to an already great piece or give us a piece that we just didn't like once we brought it home.
Revitalising your wardrobes doesn't have to break your bank account, just a few simple changes can make all the difference and not affect our bottom line. With a little creative shopping and a little bit of effort, we can create a wardrobe we love, at a price we can afford.
