What originally sparked the idea to collaborate with Number One Shoes?
WORLD has ALWAYS gone to Number One Shoes for show shoes over the years! The place is a treasure trove of styles, colours and shapes. The team at Botany would have us running around the warehouse, shoes flying everywhere, sparkles, sequins, feathers and heels, it was hilarious! As the seasons changed we noticed Number One Shoes stepping up its game by offering more choice and more variety with a real fashion focus. As seasons changed the opportunity landed on our lap for us to do something new and exciting for the market, and this collaboration was born.
What excites you most about this project?
The creative team at Number One Shoes is amazing and have really inspired us to create some kick arse shoes! It was loads of fun getting to know them creatively. We love working with them! The colours, shapes and textures we have collaborated with ARE fashion. The ideas are genius and on trend. As fashion designers we always love it when we can design a complete look, so creating a luxurious capsule collection of high quality fashion shoes with the largest shoe retailer in New Zealand is soooooooo exciting!
Who do you think will buy the new styles? Are they for men and women?
Our first collection is 100% for a fashion woman, so we see our shoes being purchased by a fashion woman! WORLD has always firstly dressed our customers MIND, so again the first thing we have done, and will do, is dress the Number One Shoes woman’s mind with our sexy shoes!
What key things inspired your creativity when you were working on the new range?
Our working day is totally creative, we are always playing with new ideas and experimenting with new fabric, concepts and collections. Working with Number One Shoes on this unique shoe collection has allowed us to look, listen, draw and
create a first for New Zealand. A frikkin hot collection of shoes at an even hotter price point that will make you buy not just one pair but 4 pairs of shoes!
When will New Zealand get to see the shoes for the first time? What’s the big launch date?
We will be launching World Made Me Do It at New Zealand Fashion Week 2011 with the biggest show WORLD has ever created! Just wait and see!
Will they be available nationwide? Do we have to be quick to secure a pair?
Uniquely, the shoes will be available to purchase the day after the show on Saturday 3rd September, in selected Number One Shoes stores across the country, but you will have to be quick! This collection is very limited so they will sell out! Don’t be apathetic as you will be pathetic!
