Universal Music New Zealand and V regret to advise that, after much consideration, LA group Far East Movement have cancelled their visit to Auckland next week.

The band was due to promote their new album and play an exclusive event for the V Republic on Wednesday 2nd March. However, following the tragic events in Christchurch the band feels the focus at this time should be on all those affected by the earthquake.

Far East Movement had this to say to their fans:

“Like everyone around the world we are deeply saddened by the news of the devastating earthquake in Christchurch.

We understand that New Zealand is in a state of shock and mourning and we respect that all New Zealanders need to focus on their loved ones in Christchurch. For this reason we have decided to cancel our promotional trip to Auckland next week as we feel the timing is not appropriate.

Our love and thoughts are with you New Zealand, and in particular with the brave people of Christchurch.”

Far East Movement are aware that fans will be disappointed by the cancellation of their New Zealand visit, but they also know many fans have been affected by this week’s events and it is out of respect to those involved that they have made this difficult decision.

V and Universal Music fully support Far East Movement’s decision to cancel next week’s visit to New Zealand.

Far East Movement will be making a donation to the New Zealand Red Cross to help the ongoing efforts in Christchurch whilst Frucor, the maker of V, has since Wednesday, been supplying civil defence and emergency services in the region with much needed bottled water.
