Ezra Vine - Celeste Wed-11-Sep-13 11:36 Share this What is your single about?Celeste is written from the perspective of a guy who's caught up, maybe a little too far, inside his own imagination and seeing him chase a certain romance which is never quite realised.Where did you record this single, and who helped you out?I recorded it at home in two stints, first was totally solo and I had only one mic to play with so I basically got the track 85% there, and then my mate Samuel James came and helped record the vocals – he brought in a nice vintage pre and did some of the pre-mix stuff before I sent it on to Nic Manders who's another old friend for mixdown. Kept it all in the family, really.Have you got a video out, if so what is the theme/story behind the video? Yeah the video came out about a week ago. It's an animated clip depicting an ambiguous journey through epic landscapes by a humanoid traveller. It was directed by super-talented director/designer/animator Rob Wallace, he's London based at the moment so we collaborated over many skype and email sessions. He's got a detailed and textured art style that lends itself well to Celeste's instrumentation, and a great eye for detail, as well as a sense of narrative that propels the piece really well.Who’s in your band?It shifts around a bit at the moment depending on the gig. For smaller stuff I like to keep it a bit simpler so either solo or with my drummer Jono Wilson, and guitarist, Jeremy Gregory or Andy Thomas. For the larger stuff I'll fill it out with Dave Wilson on bass and Callum Galloway on keys. All the lads lend their pipes for the backing vocals.Have you got any tours coming up?We're just meeting over the next few days to discuss proper dates, but it looks like we'll be booking both NZ and AUS tours early next year. Other than that, we'll be performing at Parachute Festival in the Waikato in late Jan, along with a couple of other small shows.Have you got an album coming out soon? I'm planning on a couple of EP releases, kinda taking the opportunity to do things a slightly different way to most people. It'll give me a chance to experiment without losing momentum, and release things perhaps a little more frequently than usual. I'm a huge fan of an artist having B-sides and rarities, there's more there to discover for fans than just the radio singles – so I'm keen to develop this path for a while. EP looks like it will drop early next year also (coinciding with tours).https://www.facebook.com/ezravinehttps://twitter.com/itsezravinehttp://instagram.com/ezravine/http://ezravine.tumblr.com You May Also Like NZ Artist signed to The Beatles record label Become a fan of The Edge on Facebook and on Twitter .
