So I would have been honoured to have been part of this unique Team GB squad," David was quoted by British newspaper The Sun.But, ever the good sport, he insisted he would support his national team all the way.The LA Galaxy midfielder had originally been named in coach Stuart Pearce’s preliminary 35-man squad but failed to make the cut when the number was reduced to 18 players."Naturally I am very disappointed, but there will be no bigger supporter of the team than me. And like everyone, I will be hoping they can win the gold," he said. "As a Londoner I was really proud to have played a small part in bringing the Olympics to my home town as part of Seb's [Coe] team and I can't wait for the Games to begin and will enjoy every moment along with the rest of Great Britain."It was widely expected he would be chosen because of his services to the British sporting industry and the commercial benefits of his global brand image.Cover Showbiz You May Also Like David Beckham ends up with egg on his face What's David Beckham doing after he retires from football?
