Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters bandmates “know exactly what’s coming next” on their upcoming album.

Dave is currently at the Sundance Film Festival, where he secured a publishing deal for the soundtrack to his forthcoming documentary Sound City.

Foo Fighters released their last record Wasting Light in 2011.

Dave has been immersed in work surrounding Sound City and just premiered the movie about a legendary music studio at Sundance.

Although the Foo Fighters are on a break currently, the musicians have grand ideas about their next musical venture.

"It's funny, we don't really consider this the Foo Fighters ... we're Rick Springfield's backing band, we're john Fogerty's backing band. We're not up there playing Everlong every night, we're just hoping our heroes get up on stage and play," Dave told MTV News.

"But we have a plan, we know exactly what's coming next, and I have the music for the next record and we're going to start working on it once we finish doing all this stuff.

"And we have really awesome, big plans for the next album and I'm really excited about it."

The band’s new album is in the brainstorm phase.

Dave doesn’t want to commit to any binding agreements right now.

"If I give you something now [about a release date], it means I'll actually have to make that deadline,” he laughed.
