Bosses of a British music chain have spoken out to assure fans they had nothing to do with an anti-domestic violence stunt which urged customers not to buy Chris Brown 's music.

Stickers appeared on a number of Brown's Fortune CDs in a London branch of entertainment retailer with the message: "Warning. Do not buy this album! This man beats women."

The stunt is thought to have been carried out by anti-domestic abuse campaigners over Brown's 2009 conviction for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna, and HMV executives have now insisted the problem won't happen again.

In a statement, a spokesman for the chain says, "It was very much an isolated incident and nothing to do with HMV or representing our views. It would appear a member of the public popped into one of our stores... and stickered a handful of CDs.

These were spotted and quickly removed... To our knowledge there are no further stickers in our stores now."
