Amy Winehouse's father Mitch will honour his late daughter with a performance at iconic London concert venue the Royal Albert Hall.

Mitch, who is a budding singer, was asked to support former Bros star Matt Goss at the show on 21 October (11), and the mourning father was determined to sing at the event to raise awareness of his proposed Amy Winehouse Foundation.

He says, "I was in New York preparing for my U.S. debut at the Blue Note jazz club when I received the devastating news of Amy's passing. I immediately returned to the U.K. to be with my family, and of course singing was the furthest thing from my mind.

"Through setting up the foundation in Amy's memory I have to come to realise that I can sing for Amy and raise money for her foundation, so when Matt Goss called me to ask me to open his show at the Royal Albert Hall this was a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness for the foundation.

"I immediately felt a strong rapport with Matt and he told me how he tragically lost his sister Caroline at a young age. I shared with Matt that Amy was a huge fan of Bros when she was a little girl and had their posters on her wall. These are warm memories and we agreed that the show would be a joyous occasion in memory of both his sister and Amy."

Winehouse was found dead at her London home last month (Jul11). Details of toxicology tests released this week (beg22Aug11) show she had not taken illegal drugs in the hours before her death.
