Adele has triumphed in the first major magazine music poll of the year (11) after landing album and single of 2011 accolades in the Rolling Stone editors' annual countdown.

The Someone Like You singer's bestselling 21 has scored the top album prize ahead of Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne, Paul Simon's acclaimed So Beautiful or So What and Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes, while her Rolling in the Deep hit has been named Single of the Year ahead of Jay-Z and Kanye West's N**gas in Paris, Till the World Ends by Britney Spears and Foo Fighters' These Days.

Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling's action thriller Drive has landed the top movie honour ahead of Oscars favourites The Artist and The Descendants. Moneyball and Midnight in Paris round out the top five.
