Running is one of the oldest human endeavours, we used to have to run to get food, I mean we can run to McDonalds now too, but there wasn't a drive through then for a delicious roast gazelle. We had to pick up a spear and run after some animals on the Serengeti and throw the spear at the animal. This is one of the weird things I have thought about in depth since I started my training for the Auckland Adidas Half Marathon in June. There have been some big runs in there, building up to 35kms three weeks ago, that was killer, my mind went all ga ga at the end, but I am feeling it and this week has been awesome. Carbo loading is a great reason to eat a crazy amount of delicious foods! The history of marathon running dates back to Ancient Rome, apparently this dude Pheidippide ran from Marathon to Athens, to warn of the approaching Persians with the fantastic rugs and cheap carpets. Craziness, my guess is he didn't do the training schedule I did before hand and he wasn't wearing specifically chosen Adidas shoes...
