Adam Lambert's upcoming concert in Malaysia has sparked a storm of protest from Islamic politicians in the conservative country.

The outlandish gay singer, who shot to fame on last year's (09) American Idol contest, is scheduled to play in the capital city Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (14Oct10).

But news of the gig has caused outrage among members of the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), who have accused the star of promoting gay culture in the mainly Muslim country, where homosexual relations are illegal.

PAS official Nasrudin Hasan says, "Adam Lambert's shows... are outrageous, with lewd dancing and a gay performance that includes kissing male dancers, this is not good for people in our country."

Officials at Malaysia's Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry insist Lambert has agreed to abide by the country's rules about toning down raunchy Western acts.

Strict Islamic groups in Malaysia frequently oppose pop concerts in the country - Beyonce scrapped a planned gig in Kuala Lumpur last year (09) after Muslim leaders slammed her sexy show, while other stars, including the Black Eyes Peas' Fergie, Pitbull and Avril Lavigne have all faced angry objections to their shows.
