Kiwi boy Bret McKenzie has been nominated
for an Oscar!
The 84th annual Academy Awards
nominations were announced this morning, and his song Man or Muppet is up for
Best Original Song from the movie The Muppets.
McKenzie's nomination follows his Critics'
Choice award, where he beat out Mary J Blige and Elton John, for his work on
the Muppets, for which he was musical director.
Bret said he knew it was good news when
the phone started ringing early in the morning.
"I'm having a great day. It's a great
way to start a day with news you've been nominated for an Oscar. "
"I kind of had a feeling when the
phone started ringing a few times it must be good news," he said.
